    What do you need to know to calculate AC kilowatts?

    Conversion using the Amps to KW Formula

    How to Calculate KW from amps and volts using DC line current.

    KW = Amps × Volts 1000

    For Example, let's find the power in kilowatts for a circuit with 8 amps of current at 100 volts.

    Real Power(P) = Current(I) × Voltage(V) 1000
    or, P(KW) = 8 amps × 100 volts 1000
    or, Kilowatt = 0.800 KW

    How to Calculate KW from Amps, volts and Power factor pf using AC Single Phase current.

    KW = pf × Amps × Volts 1000

    For Example, If the Voltage consumption is 240V with a phase current of 8A and a power factor of 0.8 the Real Power is KW.

    Real Power(P) = Power factor(pf) × Current(I) × Voltage(V) 1000
    or, P(KW) = 0.8 pf × 8 amps × 240 volts 1000
    or, Kilowatts = 1.53600 KW

    How to Calculate KW from amps, volts and power factor pf using AC 3-phase current for Line-to-Line Voltage.

    KW = 3 × pf × Amps × Volts 1000

    For Example, If the RMS Line-line Voltage consumption is 440V with a 3-phase the phase current is 5A, and a Power factor of 0.8 the Real Power is KW.

    Real Power(P) = 3 × Power factor(pf) × Current(I) × Voltage(line-line) 1000
    or, P(KW) = 3 × 0.8 × 5 amps × 440 volts 1000
    or, Koliwatts = 3.04841 KW

    How to Calculate KW from amps, volts and Power factor pf using AC 3-phase current for Line-to-Neutral Voltage.

    KW = 3 × pf × Amps × Volts 1000

    For Example, If the RMS Line-Neutral Voltage consumption is 440V with a 3-phase the phase current is 10A, and a Power factor of 0.8 the Real Power is KW.

    Real Power(P) = 3 × Power factor(pf) × Current(I) × Voltage(line-Neutral) 1000
    or, P(KW) = 3 × 0.8 × 10 amps × 440 volts 1000
    or, Kilowatts = 10.56000 KW
